Technical Communication Competition Returns to Northeast Ohio

After a one year hiatus, NEO STC is proud to announce that they are again hosting a regional technical communication competition

HUDSON, OH, September 17, 2011 /Publications PR News/ -- The Northeast Ohio chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (NEO STC) will host a competition for those in the technical communication field. Due to budget restrictions in 2010 the competition was not held, so NEO STC is anticipating a high number of entries for 2011.

This year, the competition is divided into four distinct categories: Informational Materials, Instructional Materials, Promotional Materials, and User Support Materials. Winners will earn one of three award levels: Distinguished Technical Communication, Excellence, and Merit.

Entrants receive detailed evaluation and feedback from peers and recognition for their work. In addition, submissions that receive Distinguished Technical Communication or Excellence awards are automatically entered in the international competition, where the submissions will receive additional evaluation.

Applications to judge the event must be received by October 7, 2011. Entries for the competition must be received by October 14, 2011. For more information and applications for entrants and potential judges, please visit http://tinyurl.com/NEOSTCAwards2011.

The NEO STC is a community of hundreds of technical and professional writers, editors and illustrators from around Cleveland, Akron-Canton, Youngstown and Ashtabula who exchange ideas and feelings about their careers. NEO STC often earns the Society's community of excellence award (2001-2004, 2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2009-2010) for its outstanding service to members. Learn more at www.neostc.org.

The Society for Technical Communication is a professional association dedicated to the advancement of technical communication. Technical communicators research and create information about technical processes or products directed to a targeted audience through various forms of media.

For example, STC members communicate about technical or specialized topics, such as computer applications, medical procedures, or environmental regulations. They communicate by using technology, such as Web pages, help files, or social media sites. And they provide instructions for products and services. Learn more at http://stc.org.
