The Sky's the Limit for O.R. Tambo International Airport in Supply Chain Digital
O.R. Tambo International Airport is the primary airport for domestic and international travel to or from South Africa.
SAN DIEGO, CA, June 29, 2011 /Publications PR News/ -- O.R. Tambo International Airport is the primary airport for domestic and international travel to or from South Africa.
ORTIA is the hub of South Africa's largest international and domestic carrier, South African Airways (SAA) and a number of smaller local airlines.
With over 18 million passengers passing through the airport a year, O.R. Tambo is Africa's biggest and busiest airport.
"Our focus is largely on improving the utilization of our assets as well as improving the efficiency and experience of the passenger end-to-end facilitation experience," says Christopher Hlekane, General Manager of O.R. Tambo International Airport.
This year, O.R Tambo International Airport took the top spot at the awards and was named the best airport in Africa.
It was also acknowledged by passengers as one of the top three most improved airports in the world.

The award signifies yet another important milestone for the airport after South Africa successfully hosted the FIFA 2010 World Cup," says Hlekane.
During the World Cup ACSA handled more than four million passengers and over 52,000 flights to 64 games. It went from managing around 650 aircraft a day to 1,000.
"The award recognises that this airport, including key airports in the ACSA network, can compete comfortably with the best facilities in the world," says Hlekane.
"That is good news not only for ACSA but for South Africa as a travel destination of choice."
