The company offers a whole range of services to the oil and gas, power generation, mining and water reticulation sectors.
Wickins, a qualified accountant, became the CEO of Southey Holdings 10 years ago. "I was approached by Southey to head up the organisation in 2001 and I have been here ever since growing and developing the company in my role of strategic development and operational management," he says.
Wickins explains that under his leadership, the company has grown at a compound, annual growth rate of approximately 20 percent per annum.
Southey is continuously looking to diversify into new growth areas to create a bigger market space for the company. Extensive market research carried out by the Group identified that there is a shortage of cold storage warehousing within South Africa.
The company is estimating that it will cost up to R250 million to enter the cold storage market within the next 6-12 months but the potential return on investment is attractive.
