Stanford Who's Who welcomes Jean Morrison to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her magnificent work in the Publishing Industry.

NAPANEE, ON, CANADA, April 22, 2010 /Stanford Who's Who/ -- Stanford Who's Who welcomes Jean Morrison to the ranks of leading professionals as a result of her magnificent work in the Publishing Industry. As Publisher and President of The Picton Gazette and The Napanee Beaver for the past 57 years, Jean has consistently displayed the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be among the best.

The Picton Gazette is an independent locally owned community newspaper. Established in 1830, it is the longest running community newspaper in Canada. J. Earl Morrison purchased The Picton Gazette in 1977. The paper is published twice a week. The Wednesday edition, broadsheet paper, is a subscription paper. The Friday County Gazette is a tabloid paper with controlled circulation that is distributed throughout Prince Edward County.

The Napanee Beaver began in 1870, and since that time it has only been owned by two families. The Templetons operated the Beaver from its beginning until March 1953 when they sold to J. Earl and Jean Morrison. Since that time, the paper merged with other newspapers in the area. In 1965, it absorbed both the Deseronto Post and the Napanee Express.

The Napanee Beaver was the Grand Prize Winner of the 2003 Holiday Advertising Service "Tearsheet Contest" from Metro Creative Graphics. They were also the runner-up for that award in 2002. In addition they finished in 2nd Place in both, the 2003 OCNA Better Newspaper Competition "Special Section" as well as the "Arts and Entertainment."

During her educational career, Jean studied General Liberal Arts at the University of Western Ontario. She is a member of the Canadian Newspaper Association and Ontario Newspaper Association. In the time away from her busy schedule, Jean enjoys golf, curling, reading and skiing.
